The Ministry of the Interior has informed the CNTC about the solutions and measures adopted by the French authorities to address this worrying situation.

The National Committee for Road Transport (CNTC) has filed a complaint with the Ministry of the Interior due to the continuous thefts that Spanish transport companies are suffering in French territory and the lack of cooperation from the French authorities, according to the CETM.

The Ministry of the Interior has contacted its French counterpart and has informed the CNTC about the solutions and measures adopted by the French authorities to address this worrying situation. According to the communication, the French National Gendarmerie has established a specific protocol for Spanish drivers who are victims of highway robbery, according to Froet.

Gendarmerie Immediate Action Protocol

In the event of theft of merchandise, fuel or other crimes of this nature, drivers are advised to dial the emergency number 17 to contact the National Gendarmerie Operations and Intelligence Center (CORG). In addition, those affected are urged to remain at the scene of the incident to facilitate rapid intervention by the authorities.

This number allows a unit to be deployed on the ground for emergency treatment and to indicate to the applicant the nearest gendarmerie brigade. Once the vehicle has been identified and geographically located, a patrol can then be dispatched to the scene to initiate initial actions and take the driver's report, if applicable.

These units may take the report on-site or, if applicable, invite the driver to go to the motorway unit to establish the procedural steps. The Gendarmerie has allocated specialized motorway traffic units to cover various geographical areas at all times, ensuring a rapid and effective response to reports.

The response from the Ministry of the Interior highlights the commitment and the utmost interest that the National Gendarmerie is showing in maintaining a high-level operational device for the benefit of drivers who are victims of road robbery.
